In our “Soul Photography” project, we had the distinct pleasure of featuring Adrian, an acclaimed documentary filmmaker whose penetrating works have captivated audiences worldwide. Known for his evocative storytelling and insightful explorations of human experiences, Adrian’s contributions to documentary cinema include notable works such as “Genghis Blues” and “Beyond the Call.”
Our studio session in Los Angeles was an opportunity to capture the thoughtful and creative spirit of Adrian away from his dynamic filming environments. Without the usual backdrop of his documentary settings, we focused on the depth of his personality and the subtleties of his expressions—elements that define his approach to filmmaking but are rarely seen by his audience.
“Genghis Blues,” Adrian’s critically acclaimed documentary, follows a blind musician’s journey to master Tuvan throat singing in Siberia, earning an Academy Award nomination and winning a Sundance Audience Award. Another significant work, “Beyond the Call,” presents a riveting adventure into the lives of humanitarian warriors, showcasing Adrian’s ability to intersect profound human stories with geopolitical contexts.
Through our lens, we aimed to provide a glimpse into the man behind these powerful narratives, revealing the contemplative and visionary aspects of his character. This session adds a unique dimension to our “Soul Photography” project, highlighting the individual behind the celebrated documentaries that continue to inspire and challenge viewers around the world.
